Dewayne Fortney Obituary
Dewayne was born Monday, July 15, 1968, in Elkins, a son of Nadine Wegman Fortney Moore Riffle and the late Marshall Lester Fortney.
Dewayne was a gentle soul and lived to make people laugh. He was a family driven man with a strong work ethic to support the ones he loved. He was employed with Rubbermaid (Newell Brands) for over twenty years.
Left to cherish his memory are his only son Dylan Fortney, Dewayne's life companion, Pam Fortney, two brothers, Rick Fortney of Bunker Hill, and Steven Fortney of Beverly, three sisters, Marsha Lint of Orlando, FL, Tammy Fortney of Stephenson, VA, and Tonya Arbogast of Stephenson, VA, special brother, Jody Walker of Winchester, VA, seven stepchildren, and several grandchildren.
Preceding Dewayne in death besides his father were maternal and paternal grandparents, Norvel and Lena Fortney, Odie and Howard Wegman, stepmother, Karen Fortney, brother, Rodney Fortney, niece, Crystal Moore, stepfather, Jack Moore, and two granddaughters, Jasmine Carey and Sierra Carahan.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman. Interment will follow.
