Dewey Farmer Sr., 85, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, went home to be with the Lord after a life well-lived and a heart full of faith. He was born on December 28, 1939, in Lenoir City, Tennessee to Charles and Lillian (Dunlap) Farmer.
Throughout his life, Dewey had several career paths. He sold cars alongside his brother Jackie at Farmer Bros. Used Cars, then moved to Arkansas and started his own used car lot, Farmers Used Cars. He later built a business with his son Dewey Jr. selling swimming pools through Pools for Less. He was also an early entrepreneur in the online world, buying and selling items on eBay. But above all else, Dewey’s greatest calling was sharing the Gospel.
He founded The Household of Faith church in Tampa, Florida, where he faithfully preached and led countless people to give their lives to Jesus Christ. His words, compassion and example touched more lives than he ever knew.
Dewey spent 49 wonderful years with the love of his life, Carol Farmer, who preceded him in death in 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Sue and Geraldine.
He is survived by one brother and sister. Jackie (Nancy) Farmer and Jo Boruff. His children: David (Mindy) Farmer, Dewey Farmer Jr., and daughter Cindy (Angela) Farmer; five grandchildren — Shelby, Haze, Chelsea, Dewey III, and Charlie — and his great-grandchildren, Colton, Stone, and Waylon. He is also lovingly remembered by his dear friend, Barbie Wells, who remained by his side until the end and was cherished by Dewey and his family.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Garrett Woods, Quapaw, Blossoms and Dierksen Hospice for the excellent care and kindness they provided. A special thank-you also goes to Mindy Farmer for her years of loving care and support for Dewey.
Dewey Farmer Sr. lived his life in service — to his family, his friends, and his Savior. His faith, humor and love will live on in all who knew him.
A Visitation for Dewey will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 PM. Services will be held at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Hot Springs. The Interment will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
