Dexter Cook, 60, of Marion, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
He was born in Avery County on April 20, 1964 to the late Roy Cook and Bertie Hughes Cook. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Crystal Aldredge Cook, and a sister, Beatrice Anderson.
He dedicated much of his life to his career as a machinist. Dexter was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. He found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed fishing and playing the drums, as well as playing games such as Galaga and foosball. Dexter was especially proud of his family, cherishing time spent with his children and grandchildren, who brought immense joy and fulfillment to his life. His love for them was profound, and he adored creating memories that would be cherished for generations.
Left to cherish his memory are three children, Bryant Cook, Landon Cook (Ashley Jarrett), and Carli Cook (Matthew Ellis); two grandchildren, Lincoln Cook and Kennedy Cook; two siblings, Dewey Cook (Jackie) and Dawn Ceja (Mark); and his mother-in-law, Mary Jo Aldredge.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
