Dexter was born August 6, 1950 in Chattanooga, TN to parents, Oscar Eugene and Martha Jo Jenkins Franklin. He grew up in Chattanooga area and became an owner/operator of a movie rental business.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ila Bernice Clark Franklin, sons, Dexter Franklin Jr.(Michelle), Christopher Lee Franklin(Pat), grandchildren, Andy Franklin(Gwen), Zachary Franklin, Logan Franklin, Josh Franklin(Robin), Amanda Franklin, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, son, Lonnie Franklin, sister, Pam Franklin Kilgore, brothers, David Franklin and Denis Franklin.
