Diana Jean Bender, 71, of
Chapmanville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on January 29, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born December 4, 1954, in
Chapmanville, WV, to the late James "Jimmie" and Ethel Ann Queen.
In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Page Junior Bender; her granddaughter, Amanda Paige Harless; her grandparents, Belford "Dadi" and Burns "Momi" Queen, Erna and George Cutlip, and Clyde Baisden; her brothers, Jimmie Ray Queen and Timmy Queen; her aunts, Susie Tackett, Judy Bell, and Nellie Bender; her father- and mother-in-law, Page and Ann Bender; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, including Edwin and Lucinda Bender, Ronald and Norma Bender, Lydia Phillips, Max Bender, Louise and Ronald Porter, Clarence Bender, Bob and Gloria Bender, Donald Bender, and Kermit and Sherry Bender.
Diana was a devoted homemaker for more than fifty years. During that time, she poured her love into cooking big family meals, raising gardens, fishing, riding motorcycles with her husband, and spending precious time with her family. She loved playing softball and proudly pitched for over 25 years, traveling each summer and spending countless days on the softball field with her girls.
She also enjoyed bowling in mixed and women's leagues, playing Rook, pitching horseshoes, and sharing all-night Canasta games with her daughters. In her final days, Diana found great joy in loving on her grandchildren and great grandbabies.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters: Sandy and D.A. Harless of Moncks Corner, SC; Cindy and Timmy Jeffrey of
Chapmanville, WV; and Jenni and Shannon Webb of Clarksburg, WV. Her grandchildren include Logan and Lilly Webb of Bridgeport, WV; Alli and Bam Smith of Summerville, SC; Hunter Jeffrey of
Chapmanville, WV; Nich and Jenna Jeffrey of Alum Creek, WV; and Jill Ball of Hewett, WV. She is also survived by her six great-grandchildren, Emma Webb, Ace Smith, Kaylee and Jonathan Ball, Logan Ryan Jeffrey, and Madelyn Jeffrey, with another baby girl on the way. Additional survivors include her brother-in-law, Vernon and Donna Bender of Foster, WV; sisters-in-law Jonetta Queen of
Chapmanville, WV, Clara Bender of Foster, WV, and Billie Bender of Printer, WV; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Funeral arrangements are being overseen by Freeman Funeral Home of
Chapmanville, WV.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hill Cemetery in
Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Wayne Runyon officiating. Bobby Edwards will provide special music .
