Diana DeRensis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodlawn Funeral Home - Cranston on Jan. 5, 2026.
Diana P. (DeMatteo) DeRensis, RN, 92, of Johnston passed away surrounded by her loving family Sunday January 4, 2026, at Cherry Hill Manor in Johnston. She was the beloved wife of the late Emilio DeRensis. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Etta (Mariano) DeMatteo.

Diana was devoted to her family and is survived by three loving children: Paul R. DeRensis, Lisa A. DeRensis and Lori M. Dionne and husband Denis. She was the mother of the late Thomas E. DeRensis. She leaves her four cherished grandchildren Thomas, Zachary, Ethan and Ellie and was the mother-in-law of the late Susan (Baffoni) DeRensis.

Diana proudly graduated in 1954 from the RI Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She loved to read and was an avid reader. For many years she and five other couples, "the gang" would gather to play cards, which she loved, especially poker. She continued to play cards with her grandchildren. Baking cookies with her grandchildren also gave her great pleasure. She loved watching and feeding her birds.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial Friday, January 9th at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Johnston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Blood Cancer United, 1201 15th Street N.W. Suite 410 Washington, DC 20005.
