Diana "Waters" Evatt

Diana Waters Evatt, 79, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Saturday February 28, 2026 at her home in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. She was born on November 15, 1946 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Claud Lewis Waters & Lydia Margaret Wiggins Waters.

Along with her parents, Diana is reunited in passing with her beloved husband, George D. Evatt, Jr.; and her brother, Robert Eugene Waters, Sr.

Diana was a graduate of Lander University Class of 1969. Following graduation, Diana jumped right into the work force and stayed busy. She was a member of Kiwanis in Clinton, South Carolina, was a proud Camp Fire Girls Leader and board member and was a member of the Broad St. UMC in Clinton- where she sang in the choir. Diana was a hardworking woman with a heart of gold and a green thumb! She was the proud owner and operator of Rent a Row Greenhouse where she made life-long friends. With her refined skills in the garden, Diana taught school in Ware Shoals & Clinton, South Carolina. Diana was also an active member of various clubs within Horry County and loved to perform with Laurens County Community Theatre. Diana enjoyed trips to the beach with many friends and her niece, Lisa Carrouth. Diana was well loved in her community and the epitome of kindness. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her quick wit, bright smile and the love she had for her family, friends and quilting.

Left to cherish Diana's memory are her adoring daughters, Margie Evatt Hoffman of Myrtle Beach and Rosie Evatt (Zack Brewer) of Simpsonville; granddaughters, Abby Hoffman (Nathan Engel) of Anderson, SC and Victoria Sloan of Philadelphia, PA; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Diana's life will be held on Sunday November 15, 2026 at 11am, on the beach to the right of Surfmaster, 1690 N Waccamaw Dr. Garden City Beach, SC- rain or shine.

At the request of the family, please consider memorial contributions in lieu of flowers. Donations in Diana's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
