Diana Gandy, a woman of generosity, adventure, and intelligence, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2023, in Kingsland, Texas. Born on August 20, 1956, in Houston, Texas, Diana was a beloved sister, daughter, and cousin who touched the lives of many with her vivacity and kindness.
Diana was raised in a loving family, the daughter of the late Hannelore and Thomas Gandy. Her brother, Henry Gandy of Spicewood, Texas, survives her, along with numerous cousins in the United States and Germany. She was predeceased by her brother, Tommy Gandy. Diana's family was her foundation, providing her with the strength and support that shone through in her interactions with everyone she met.
A proud Texan, Diana graduated from a Houston high school before earning her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas in Austin. Her education was a testament to her intellect and determination, qualities that would serve her well throughout her life and career.
Diana spent many fulfilling years as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines, a role that perfectly suited her adventurous spirit and love for people. Fluent in English and German, she was frequently assigned to international flights to Europe. Her linguistic skills and warm personality made her a favorite among passengers, who appreciated her travel advice and engaging stories from around the globe.
In her later years, Diana's respect for her colleagues and her dedication to her role saw her rise to the position of a senior flight attendant. Captains and crews admired her, and she was known for her professionalism and the personal touch she brought to every flight. She was not just a colleague but a mentor and friend to many within the airline.
But it was her love for travel that truly defined Diana. She reveled in the opportunity to explore new places and cultures, particularly during her layovers in Europe. From the Christmas markets in Munich and Vienna to the hills and mountains of Bavaria, Diana embraced every moment of her journey. Her favorite place was a quaint town in Bavaria, Mittenwald, a place that captured her heart and where her ashes will be laid to rest.
Diana was a beacon of generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. Her adventurous spirit was infectious, inspiring those around her to seek out new experiences and broaden their horizons. Her intelligence shone through in her quick wit and insightful conversations, making every interaction with her a joy.
In remembering Diana Gandy, we honor a life well-lived. She was a woman who embraced the world with open arms and a ready smile, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and in the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.

Diana and I had a 50 year history. We were friends at the University of Texas where I was her brother Tom's roommate. I enjoyed visiting her home in Kerrville one summer and meeting Henry, Hannelore, and John R. Bannister. Kerrville is my home now and I often think about our adventures here. Our last conversation was on her birthday, August 20th. Diana was a kind person with an infectious smile.

We have very loving memories of Diana from our days in Kerrville, her experiences as a lovely Delta flight attendant, and the visits we enjoyed with her, Henry and Hannelore in Austin. We were deeply saddened to hear she is gone from us.

Diana was a Beacon of Brightness, Wisdom and Kindness wherever she went! Her enthusiasm for Life was Effervescent and Contagious! Her Laughter, Infectious! In work and in play, in her travels abroad and at home, she spread happiness and positivity to untold numbers of people, lucky enough to cross paths with her. She is sorely missed.
