Diana Lynn Pier
January 22, 1952 - August 4th 2022
Born on January 22, 1952, in Belleville, Illinois, to parents Eolia and Walter James. Diana married John Pier on September 22, 1978. They enjoyed 43 years of marriage and were preparing to travel to Italy to celebrate their 44th year of marriage.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents Eolia (Emery) and Walter James; sister Patricia A Mahan, brothers; Dennis, Roger, and Donnie James.
Diana is survived by her loving husband John Pier; daughters Marsha Garcia (spouse Luis) of Charlotte, NC; Rebecca Martinez (spouse Sonny) of Hutto, TX; and Kathryn of Florence, TX; honorary daughter Carmen Topicz (spouse Tim); siblings Brenda, Cindy, Ricky and Walter Jr. of Swansea, IL.
Diana was blessed with seven grandchildren, Samantha Martinez, Vivian Garcia, Emery Garcia, Odon Garcia, Amelia Martinez, Zar Martinez and Isabella Martinez; two honorary grandchildren Giovan Topicz and Gavin Topicz and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as, many beloved friends.
Diana was a Legal Secretary, a Notary and worked at Exfluor/FluoroMed for 24 years as a Document Controller. Her zeal to always learn more and experience life led her to worldwide travel to Aruba, The Bahamas, Belize, Canada, France, Jamaica, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea and Diana even trekked the El Camino in Spain. She loved listening to jazz music, specifically the saxophone, even learning how to play it herself.
A parishioner of St. Helen Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Group, the Over 50's Group, and the Teen Group. For 35 years, as a parishioner of Saint William Catholic Church, Diana taught Catechism, sang in the choir and was an Eucharistic Minister; a member of Asian Council, Catholic Daughters, Christ Child Society of Texas Capital Area Inc., the Gabriel Project, the K.J.T. Society #134, the Ladies Guild, and volunteered with Annie's Way, Just Because and in the church gift shop. Most recently, Diana volunteered and led the children's story hour at the Florence Public Library, was on the board of Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, the Bereavement leader of Christ Child Society, provided care to the elderly, traveled, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Diana will be remembered not only as a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother, but also as a loyal and genuine friend to many. Most of all, she will be remembered as a light of God, who received her own joy knowing she was helping others. For many she exemplified in her actions, John 13:34-35 "I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Doug and I are very saddened to hear about Diana´s passing. We have so many wonderful memories of her and your family in the days of St. Williams and our gatherings in each other´s homes. She was a woman of faith, hope and charity. God has opened his heavenly arms to Diana in eternal life. He has gained an Angel. Love to all.

It's really hard to fathom this happening to anyone in our family, but most of all Aunt Diana. She was the most kind hearted sole in our gaggle of humans. She brought so much light and love to our family gatherings and had a truly amazing capability of knowing how to be there for all of us in a deeply loving way. While we lived miles apart, she had a beautiful ability of keeping us all close. I will never forget the special adventures we got to have with her, Marsha, Becca and Katherine as kids that helped forge a beautiful cousin bond. I hope you all know I am here in Portland sending all my love and positive energy I can muster to you as you traverse this troublesome time. Love you so, Meghan

To John and Family, May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
I worked with John for 10 years. That is how I came to know this sweet lady. She was the leader of the WaHeLo club of the Boys and Girls Campfire for several years. I enjoyed being the co-leader with her for a few years. The children loved her. She was always happy, joyful and creative. She encouraged you to be your best.
We will miss her dearly. But will always remember the good times.
We are sorry for your loss. She was taken too soon. But God needed another angel and she was picked.

To John and family and friends
My deepest sorry for your loss of a truly lovely lady. I am so happy I got to speak with her just the other week via phone. I know it is hardest on her family. We never know when it is our time and many are not prepared. As far Diana, I know she was prepared but would have liked to stay with all of you much longer. God bless you all and may he give you peace and comfort forever.
