Diane K. Elverud

Diane K. Elverud, 75, of Volga, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:30 am.
Diane K. Green was born on October 18, 1947, in Brookings, SD, the daughter ot Leonard and Lorraine (Pedersen) Green. Diane received her education at District III (first thru sixth grade, and District 86 (sixth thru 8th Grade), and was a graduate of the Estelline High School in 1965. She was united in marriage to Thomas Elverud on August 4, 1967 at lake Campbell Lutheran Church. In 1984, she was employed at the Brookings Hospital in the kitchen until 1989, when she worked at SDSU as custodian. In 1992, she worked as a clerk at the Credit Union at SDSU for the next seven years. In 2016, Diane moved into the Estelline Nursing and Care Center, where she developed many wonderful relationships with the people there, who became a second family.
She was a member of the Lake Campbell Lutheran Church. Diane had a love for animals, especially cats and dogs. She also enjoyed crafting and word puzzles. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren
She is survived by her two children, Elaine (Robert) Kilber, of Colman, SD and Eric (Sue) Elverud of Brookings, SD; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter and brother, James Green of St. Paul, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tom and grandson, Patrick Pate.
