Diane E. Guiser, 78, of South Williamsport, passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harold R. Guiser.
Born June 1, 1946 in Williamsport, Diane was the daughter of the late Lamar and Marguerite (Knoop) Schmaus and the older sister of Larry (Barbara) Schmaus of Clearfield and the late Anthony (Lillian) Schmaus of Verona, NJ.
A 1964 graduate of Loyalsock High School, Diane was an accounting assistant for a local tax office and later was an executive assistant at BlaST Intermediate Unit 17. She also built a successful craft business, traveling the state to participate in juried craft shows. "Ma's workshop" was where friends and family spent many happy days sewing, stuffing and spritzing.
Diane was known for her home cooking, organizing parties, hosting family gatherings and taking care of others. She was a caregiver for both her grandmother and mother, delivered nightly dinners to elderly neighbors and readily offered a hand, bed or meal to those in need. Everyone had a place at the Guiser house and supper table.
Diane and Harold adopted four children, all who survive: Steve Guiser of S. Williamsport; Cheryl DeSeau (Michael) of White Deer; Merl Guiser of Alberta, Canada; and Mikalene Guiser (Tim Skinner) of Columbus, OH. The couple also raised and adopted their granddaughter, Felicia Sheilds of S. Williamsport, and fostered several children.
Her grandchildren are Austin, Travis, Ariana, Bayleigh, Zachary; and great grandchildren D'Andre, Lilliana, Laylah and Leo.
Many home health aides, nurses and family members helped Diane maintain dignity and gave compassionate care through her stages of dementia, including MacKenzy Copeland and Lia Herb.
Family will receive visitors Friday, Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to Noon at Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, followed by a procession to Montoursville Cemetery for a joint burial of Diane and Harold.
