December 21, 1941 – July 21, 2025
Diane Hanley departed this world peacefully on July 21, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. At her side was her loving and devoted husband, Timothy Patrick Hanley and her 4 children: Cheryl Hogya (Hanley), Mary Kay Ellis (Hanley), Jeanne Matey (Hanley) & Daniel Hanley. Diane is preceded in death by her loving mother, Ruth Schenk (Pelner), her father, Joseph Schenk, and her brother, Bob Schenk. She is survived by her loving sisters: Carlene Effinger (Schenk) and Laureen Dashek (Schenk). Diane's cherished grandchildren include: Kyle Ellis, Luke Ellis, Elissa Matey, Audrey Matey, Aidan Hanley, Avery Hanley & Bennett Hanley. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Diane graduated with a teaching degree from Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and taught Middle School. Diane was a faithful and loving wife, who cherished her 4 children and 7 grandchildren. She had such a beautiful and patient spirit and such love and compassion for her family. She was a devout Catholic and sang in the choir with her husband, Tim. She instilled this beautiful faith in GOD with her family. Diane was blessed with a creative spirit and was the master of many: sewing, quilting, knitting, painting, drawing, and gardening. She was also an avid golfer and started the women's golf group at Achasta in Dahlonega and enjoyed golfing with Tim over the summers in Bailey's Harbor, Wisconsin. In addition to her love for card games and playing bridge, she also had a love for reading and started a book club group in her neighborhood. Tim and Diane enjoyed traveling over their 60 years together. They would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on August 1. She embodied grace, elegance and poise up until the very end. Diane will never be forgotten and will always be cherished by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will forever be in our hearts.
