I'm sorry to have missed such a beautiful service for Diane. We sure miss her at Church. Such a lovely woman full of grace with a big loving heart. A good friend, much loved! Rosemary

(the rest of Connie's memory)
At some point she moved back to the place she lived in the rest of her life. I visited her often and would take her out to eat and we would laugh together.
My next clear memory is about the Happy Birthday Party for Diane's 80th birthday. Everybody was there they staged something very clever about Diane's favorite brother'. There were Doug, Don, and David, and in that order they made their cases: I was her favorite no, on the contrary I was her favorite, and last, David: I WAS HER TRUE FAVORITE!

Love you, Sis.

When Jan informed me that Diane had passed away, I told her that I would let the family members from Cleveland (Shirley, Phyllis, and Sharon) know the sad news. I knew that this news would be difficult to hear even though we had known that she was not in the best of health because I also knew that we liked and cared for Diane deeply. I was right about how difficult it was but after some tears and long silences as we each felt our sorrow privately, we began to talk and share stories about what a wonderful person she was. We all remembered that whenever we had the opportunity to visit (which unfortunately was not often enough) Diane and Jack would welcome us into their warm and beautiful home and soon it was as if we had always been there. Even if several years had passed since we had been together it took only minutes to feel as if it was just yesterday. We will all be comforted by those memories as we miss our dear cousin in the weeks and years ahead.

"by another mother" has joined my own mother in Heaven. To my cherished friend/sister, my heart breaks for your loss, for the loss to all Harkness and Van Syckle families. In her true Lioness fashion, she left an imprint on many lives. May the years of cherished memories sustain you all through the days, weeks, months ahead. Rest in eternal peace mom Harkness, rest in eternal peace.

Diane was my first boss at WK Kellogg when I was a senior in high school. She was a wonderful lady and mentor. And she came to see me retire 40 years later. She will be missed. R.I.P my friend.

I got to know Diane when she was secretary to the adult education department under John Krajenta. He was on our board at Charitable Union and I had numerous occasions to call there. She was so kind and sweet and never appeared that my call interrupted her day. I met her as well and she always had a generous smile to everyone. Our prayers and sympathy to the entire Harkness family.

Dear Julie and family, I was shocked to read this news about your sweet Mom. It seems like I just seen her not long ago but nonetheless, I am so very sorry. She was such a dear heart and always wanted to know how I was and then how Wendy (Wood Gotham) was doing. I have fond memories of her in the office at W.K.Kellogg Jr. H.S, She was someone I knew I could trust and depend on as a kid which gave me great comfort! May you find peace and love in the memories you cherish. Keeping you
and yours in my heart and prayers.
