Diane LaPoint Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 19, 2026.
Johnson Creek - Diane M. LaPoint, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2026 at The View in Johnson Creek. She was born on January 6, 1936 in Oshkosh to Reuben and Florence Raddatz. Following her graduation from Oshkosh High School in 1953, Diane was employed at the Raddatz and Meyer Insurance Agency. She married Robert LaPoint of Oshkosh on July 19, 1958, and they moved to Lake Mills where Bob started his teaching career. Diane continued working in the insurance industry until their first daughter, Wendy was born in 1959. Anne followed in 1962. A new teaching opportunity became available and the family moved to Watertown in 1963. Diane rejoined the work force in 1971, first in the Watertown School System's lunch program, then began a 25-year career at Lindberg in Watertown. Following her retirement, she enjoyed part-time work at Charles David's Sons.

Diane enjoyed socializing with friends, playing bridge and sheepshead. She looked forward to short vacations and daytrips with girlfriends and attending performances at the Fireside Theatre and other venues. Not ones to stay home, Diane and Bob enjoyed traveling, whether on one of several European tours, or within the United States to sight see or visit family and friends. They attended many Wisconsin Badger football games and were known to drive south in the winter or early spring to find weather warm enough to golf. They were members of the Madison Jazz Society and often traveled to see their favorite bands or musicians.

Diane was a proud and attentive mother and grandmother, never missing a birthday or special event. She kept scrapbooks of her grandsons' activities, milestones and achievements.

Bob and Diane celebrated 62 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2020. Diane was also preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Koch; her parents; her brother, Gerald Raddatz; sister-in-law, Judy Raddatz and nephew, Steve Raddatz. Diane is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Dan) Koch of Madison and Anne (Jim) Klug of Jefferson and grandsons Brent (Suzy) Koch of Madison, Brian (Barbra) Klug of Cedarburg and Jeff (Kristina) Klug of Fitchburg.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Carina Schiltz officiating. Friends and family may gather at the church for visitation from 10:00 a .m. until the time of the service. Innichement will take place at Lake View Memorial Park in Oshkosh at a later date. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Watertown is serving the family. Online condolences may be left at www.HafemeisterFH.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at The View in Johnson Creek for the exceptional personal care they have provided for the past five years and to Commonheart Hospice for their compassionate care during Diane's final days.
