Diane Lee Lawler

Diane Lee Lawler (née Chance), 68, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully, with her brother by her side, on February 10, 2024.
She was born on July 4, 1955, in Wilmington, DE, to Hattie M. (Barrow) Chance and the late Donald R. Chance.
Diane attended De La Warr High School and later pursued higher education at Goldey Beacom College. Following college, Diane had a successful career at AAA Automotive and with The State of Delaware, prior to retirement.
Outside of her professional life, Diane had a passion for spending quality time with her husband, Bill, and their extended friendships with the Knights of Columbus. Over their 32 years of marriage, they cherished weekend getaways to Wildwood, Williamsburg, and Atlantic City. Diane and Bill were inseparable, and their unwavering support for each other was evident, especially during Diane's declining health.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to AccentCare Inpatient Hospice at Christiana for their compassion and vigilance while Diane was in their care. The daily baths, along with soothing music, daily family visits and sweet reminiscing allowed Diane a comfortable, beautiful transition. She was truly at peace and in the right place to spend her last days and for that, we are thankful.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Lawler; father, Donald R. Chance; brother-in-law, Charles H. Spicer; and aunt, Iva R. Menton.
Diane is survived by her mother, Hattie Chance; sisters, Betty Spicer and Barbara Chance (Nancy); and brother, Richard Chance (Deborah). She'll hold a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews; Beth (Gavin), Valene, Robert, Sara, Ryan (Brittany), Sam (Alex), Marc, Alexa (Donny), as well as great nieces and nephews, Gavin, McKenzie, Robert, Isabella, Chloe, Carter, Maverick, Kiernan and Emerson.
Diane will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her warm and caring nature, and her kind heart.
All services will be held privately.
