Diane Mary Lynch, 54
Marblehead - Diane Mary Lynch, age 54 of Marblehead, passed peacefully on Sunday, December 26, at Salem Hospital after an unexpected brief illness. Diane's passing brings a tremendous loss to all who knew her and whose lives she touched, of which there were thousands. Diane was the definition of beautiful, inside and out.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Daniel J. " Papa" Lynch Jr, and the late Barbara Ann (Fahey) Lynch. With Papas passing just three short months ago, we find small comfort that Diane has been welcomed back into her parents' heavenly embraces.
Diane graduated from Marblehead High School, as Class Secretary in 1985. She would go on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Hampshire and Double Master's Degrees from Northeastern and Salem State Universities. Diane then took off from Marblehead, hardly looking back for years, traveling to many areas of the world, bringing her knowledge and love of teaching to share with many. Africa, South America, Spain, Costa Rica, are just a few of the many places Diane taught English to different children of many backgrounds and cultures. Diane's strong love of education and children eventually brought her back home, to enter the world of teaching, where she devoted herself to enhancing many childrens lives. She began her career in 1995 in the Lynn Public Schools, at Thurgood Marshall Middle School, and in 2005 moved up to Lynn English High School. Diane was the Bilingual Department Head and Director of ESL. Miss. Lynch, as she was warmly known to her students, always had an open door for anyone who needed her. Students would line up at her office door just to share a moment with her and she was always ready to lend a helping hand, personally or academically. The staff and students of Lynn English High School, will forever miss Diane's bright smile and cheery presence as they walk the halls daily.
At home in Marblehead, Diane, " Mamma ", was the most fun Mom, the house that everyone wanted to go to, the car that was packed with kids. Bringing up her three amazing children, there was a constant stream of backyard fun, beach outings and sleepovers. Her door was always open to kids, parents and neighbors. Establishing and running Camp Seaview each summer, was one of Diane's greatest achievements. Almost every child in surrounding Marblehead , may have attended Camp Seaview over the many summers it ran. Diane's warm way of including everyone and making every day special, will never be forgotten. Family and friends meant everything to Diane, family and friends who now, will have to cherish and hold our memories close.
Diane is survived by her three children; Kevin, Ailish and Cormac (Lynch - Greenberg) as well as sisters Suzanne (Marblehead ) and Patricia (Seattle) and brother Dan (Beverly). Diane was a much loved Auntie Di to her niece and nephews; Daniel, Megan, Aidan, Declan, and Micky. The list of friends, who will miss Diane greatly , is long, as she had too many to count here. The world will miss Diane Mary Lynch tremendously.
