Diane was such a genuinely kind-hearted person and I always loved seeing her at National Flute Association conventions. Her huge warm smile was infectious and we all felt better for having seen Diane. May she rest in peace and heartfelt condolences for her family.

Will there ever be a time when we hear the Stars and Stripes without a smile for Schick? She was loved by so many! Steve and Carolyn Holtman

I met Diane at the Lancaster Festival maybe 28 years ago. I was only there visiting family the one summer. I will never forget how she made me laugh and forget my problems. Obviously she made a huge impact if I can recall that infectious delightful laugh all these years later. Rest in Peace and prayers for your family.

I first met her when she came to play at St. Michael“s (and did many times again). From enthusiasm for the music at hand to impromptu discussions or a glass of wine afterward, her energy and kindness spilled to everyone she met. She has left us all better for knowing her.

I remember that DJ always knew people, anywhere we were. She would walk into a room and get hugs. She loved to talk and to laugh, and to brag on her kids. She was always positive, and brave, and funny. Another friend noted that even when she was ill, she always thought of others. I remember her picking me up from the hospital after a broken bone. She couldn't go inside, due to her immune status, but she had two lunches she thought I'd enjoy (one was tacos) and a little angel statue for me.
