Diane Sorensen

1934-2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend after and unexpected illness on October 11, 2023. Diane was surrounded by her loving family when she passed.

Diane was born on February 4th, 1934 to Orion McGregor Webb and LaVon Christensen Webb in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from East Highschool.

Mom enjoyed brunches at Little America, visiting her beloved Yellowstone and enjoying a cup of MJB coffee in the crisp morning air.

Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. For many years she hosted the celebration at her house. From her incredible homemade pies to the blessing given by her that left no dry eye in the house, we all felt thankful to be there.

Diane had an intense love for animals. It didn't matter if it was a duck, cat, dog or bird. They found a loving home with her. If she could have found a way to own a wolf, she would have done that too!

Diane's most valued times were spent with her family. She always said "Family is the most important thing." Her son Scott and grandson Brandon were the bright stars in her life. They were her constant source of pride and she looked forward to hearing from them to update her on their newest adventures. When Scott completed the Hawaii Ironman in 2000, she couldn't have been any prouder.

Diane was one of the toughest yet sweetest women we ever knew. In the face of adversity, she never complained. Her first priority was always to take care of her boys, Scott and Michael, when they were growing up. She often worked two jobs to make sure they had everything they needed. She was both mother and father to them,

Diane worked for the Operating Engineer's Credit Union for over 12 years as a branch manager. She also was an office manager at Fairmeadows Condominiums. She volunteered for countless hours at TOSH and Intermountain Hospital. All of these things plus so many more kept her active into her later years.

Mom's advice will be missed by all her family and friends. She always had stories to tell and wisdom to give to anyone that needed it. She was a beacon to us all.

"Mother you were always a rudder to my ship and would help guide me through life. Always there in adversity and happiness. Until we meet again, I love you so much. Scottie"

"Queen Diane I'll miss you and I won't let life go by without laughter as you used to say" Love, Winston

Diane is survived by her beloved son Scott, her daughter-in-law Linda, her beloved grandson Brandon "Winston", her granddaughter Ashley, her sister Marchion and her children Raeko (Chris) and Matt (Jen)and their children, niece Sandy (Kent) and many other nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to Roni for her loving care during Diane's last year.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Michael and siblings Sharon and Brent.

Per her wishes, she will be placed with her son Michael at a private family service.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time to honor Diane.

Queen Diane! Your love, humor, and ability to overcome so much, shaped me into who I am today. From getting in the Corolla and going to hires, staying at the little America and Sue saying to charge me as a baby since I was coming since I was one. To sitting in your front room listening to the amazing stories you had to tell. Going to college was so hard to not see you every Saturday, but I always looked forward to calling you every Wednesday. I´m so glad you´re able to watch over me with Michael, and your mom and dad. Your were the best grandma - Love Brandon (Winston)

My first memory of Scott's mom goes back to when I was in first grade. Scott and I were playing in the field and covered with mud when she came looking for us. She wasn't angry. She was kind and washed my clothes for me. I hope this part of your journey is peaceful.

What a blessing to have known Diane and an honor to have helped her in the last year. She taught me so much over our time as friends. To the family, they have my love. Save me a seat in heaven at the taco table Diane. I love and miss you.

My beautiful, classy Aunt Diane has been an integral part of my life. From her love of animals to her wonderful pies during the holidays, her tenacity and humor, her love of children and her grit and mettle to get through all the difficult times during the course of her whole life. Aunt Diane fought valiantly until the end and never complained. I loved her with all of my heart and will never celebrate a Thanksgiving without remembering all of the wonderful memories of her hosting the holiday. I will miss you Aunt Diane but I know you are soaring with the angels and drinking coffee with all those that were there waiting for you and setting puzzles with Michael. Until we meet again my beautiful Aunt Diane. I love you always.
