Dianne's journey through life was marked by her unwavering love for animals, especially dogs and horses. Her career as a veterinary assistant at an animal shelter in Hampton, Virginia, was a testament to her commitment to the well-being of all creatures great and small. Her gentle touch and compassionate heart left a lasting impact on both the animals she cared for and the people she worked alongside.
A woman of diverse interests, Dianne found joy in barrel racing and showing dogs, pursuits that allowed her to connect deeply with the animals she adored. She also embraced her cultural heritage by dancing at pow-wows.
Dianne proudly served her country in the United States Air Force, where she spent four years dedicated to her duties. She later pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor's Degree, which further enriched her life and those around her. As a member of the VFW in Phoebus, she cherished the camaraderie and friendships she formed within the community.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gilbert Kerr and Lois Harrison, and her dear sisters, Faith Pleicher and Debbie Raymond, Dianne is now reunited with them and her cherished dogs, Cherokee, Dakota and Zima, who brought her immense joy during their time together.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Wanda Newman (Ben), Dolores Thompson, and Gilberta Kerr-Nieves (Jose). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Dylan Sherrod, Domminique Darnell, Whitney Thompson, Jason Thompson Jr., Zander Newman, and Alexandro Nieves, as well as her six great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit of kindness and love.
A memorial service to honor Dianne's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather and celebrate the remarkable woman she was.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local animal shelter in Dianne's name, ensuring that her love for animals continues to make a difference in the world.
Dianne's warmth, generosity, and boundless love for animals and family will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave.
