H.R. Dick Benlien

H. R. (Dick) Benlien, 86, of Oak Harbor, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2026. A celebration of life service will take place at Oak Harbor Church of the Nazarene on January 30, 2026, at 2 p.m.
Born in Fredericktown, Missouri, on March 23, 1939, Dick moved to California at age 17 where he started his career in woodworking and met Karen, the woman who would become his wife of 65 years. He served in the military as a Seabee for two years before returning to build his family and continue his career, ultimately becoming a master craftsman. Dick was active in his church as a bus pastor, a Sunday school superintendent, and a board member. He enjoyed participating in mission trips, helping to run the food pantry, creating furniture and toys, and spending time with family. He and his wife moved to Oak Harbor in 2022.
Dick is survived by his wife, Karen; his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Mike Reeves; his son, Steve; his six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his love for people, his sense of humor, and his appreciation of a good cup of coffee.
Friends and family are invited to the Church of the Nazarene Oak Harbor on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. for his celebration of life.
