With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Didier Jean Leblanc, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world peacefully at his home on February 4, 2026. He was 89 years old. Born on February 27, 1936, in the vibrant city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Didier's journey was marked by resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
Didier grew up in Port-au-Prince, where he developed a passion for craftsmanship, earning a diploma in fine woodworking, cabinetry, and upholstery from J.B. Damien Professional School. In 1972, seeking new opportunities and a better life, he emigrated to New York City, where he devoted many years of his life to the healthcare sector as a valued employee at La Guardia Hospital until his retirement in 2003. A remarkable caretaker, he lovingly attended to his mother until her passing in 2014, a testament to his loyalty and compassion.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Didier was an active member and distributor of the Haiti Liberté Newspaper, proudly sharing the voices of his homeland with others until 2022. Embracing family values, he moved to Apopka, Florida, in 2024 to be closer to his beloved wife and children, cherishing the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Didier leaves behind his devoted wife, Vanessa Leblanc, and their cherished children: Augustine Sophia (Leblanc) Piquion and Françoise Carolle Leblanc. He was a proud grandfather to Christel Cassandra Piquion, Noah Didier Piquion, Christian Gabriel Leblanc, D. Shadow Turner, Nathan Yves Leblanc, Liana Lerebours, Jazmine Ania Butler, Amon Z. Denau, and Cheyanne E. Denau, as well as a great-grandfather to Harmony K. Brown, Jeremiah R. Piquion, Jourdyn L. Piquion, Kayden Turner, and Damier Denau.
He is also survived by his loving siblings, Nicole Cardozo, Yolene Cardozo Gabriel, and Milton Cardozo, along with numerous relatives, including his niece Pascale Cardozo and nephews Thierry R. Plummer, Hans Jr. Gabriel, Richard Gabriel, and Johnny Gabriel. Didier was preceded in death by his mother, Hilda Cardozo, sister Margareth Cardozo, and brother Lesly Cardozo.
Didier was known for his warm spirit, love of reading, and ability to forge connections with those around him. His laughter and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Didier’s life at a memorial service at Loomis Funeral Home on February 27, 2026, beginning at 4:00 PM. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for all the love and support during this time of sorrow and may each of you be blessed for your kindness and generosity.
As we remember Didier Jean Leblanc, we do so with thankful hearts for the memories he created and the lives he touched. His legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
As per my father's request his ashes will be laid to rest with his beloved mother in New York.
