Diedre Renee Gonzalez

Diedre Renee Gonzalez was born on February 23, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away in Indianapolis, Indiana, on January 21, 2026, at the age of 60.

Diedre was deeply committed to her community and dedicated significant time and energy to various causes close to her heart. She was a proud member of Gym 41, an organization founded by her dear friends. She volunteered her time in service to LGBTQIA+ youth. This dedication to uplift and empower others extended beyond her immediate community; she traveled to Mexico, where she helped build homes for those in need through Habitat for Humanity.

She enjoyed her participation in a local women’s softball league and her time spent at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Diedre's magnetic personality and infectious laughter drew people to her, making everyone she met feel like a friend.

Retiring at the age of 59 allowed Diedre to devote time to her loved ones. She took great pleasure in renovating and remodeling her home and lending her DIY talents to assist her friends and family in their own projects.

Diedre is survived by her father, Ralph Gonzalez, and mother, Elena Hernandez; her grandfather, Elias Hernandez, and grandmother, Lupe Gonzalez; as well as aunts Beatrice Price, Shiela Glass, and Brenda Jimenez; and many beloved cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Ralph Gonzalez, and grandmother, Josephine Costello, and aunts, Antonia Hernandez and Renee Sherman.

A Celebration of Diedre’s life will be held on March 21, 2026, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, allowing friends and family to gather and honor her legacy of love, friendship, and service to others.
