To the family and friends of Dieter; my sincere apologies for writing this note of condolences so late.
I first met Dieter in the early nineties when he was a guest instructor at a university where I was the assistant director of fire and emergency services training center. His vast knowledge of chemistry and his unique teaching style combined with his genuine passion for his students and public safety, made him an instant success with students and faculty alike. I shall always remember him as an accomplished professional who contributed greatly to the emergency services sector and to public safety.

My deepest and most sincere condolences to the Heinz family. Dieter was an amazing and inspirational instructor and colleague, who was expertly able to share his HazMat passions with professionals and students alike. He will be missed.
I will especially miss the casual German conversations over a good Bier.
