Emerald Isle - Dinah Bulla Kirby

My soul and spirit left this earthly world on May 13, 2025.

I was born in Asheboro, NC on October 29, 1946, where I lived nearly 49 years while trying to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up (didn't happen). During those years, my greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was my son, Brad. When he left for college and I became an empty nester, I moved to the coast of North Carolina where I spent many blissful days on the beach in Emerald Isle taking a long walk, reading a good book, or visiting with neighbors and friends with my feet in the sand. I loved riding my bicycle, and in later years my etrike, to the beach and around my beautiful little town and living an island lifestyle. I was an enthusiastic traveler, a life-long New York Yankee fan, an avid Parrothead, and a proud Democrat.

I was predeceased by my Daddy, Kenneth W. Bulla, who instilled in me his DIY mentality, work ethic, and love of laughter and by my Mama, Clara Routh Bulla, with whom I share a love of plants and home decor, but not her joy in all things culinary. My sister, Anita B. Cox, with whom I shared many fun times, arguments, secrets from our parents, a love of the beach, and much more also predeceased me.

Sadly, I leave my son, W. Bradley (Brad) Kirby Jr., the best thing to ever happen to me, and his perfect-match partner, Kelly M. Chandler, who live with their rescue beagle, Miss Hazel, near Chapel Hill, NC. I leave my brother, Kenneth W (Sonny) Bulla Jr., of Hubert, NC with whom I enjoyed adventures, who always had the expertise and just the right tool I needed, and who helped make my creative ideas become realities. I also leave a niece, two great-nephews, two beloved aunts, and an uncle, several fun cousins, and many cherished friends.

I request no formal memorial service. Think of me as you enjoy a beautiful day, a peaceful rain, a gorgeous sunrise or sunset, and especially salty ocean air. Peace and Love!
