Dinah Martha Tveit

Dinah Martha (Luoma) Tveit, age 88, a lifelong resident of Floodwood, MN, peacefully left us on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Americare Lodges in Grand Rapids, MN. She was lovingly surrounded by family, hospice, and friends.
Dinah was born on the family farm in Cedar Valley to Matt and Elma Luoma on August 1, 1936. She spent her childhood growing up next to the river along with her favorite dog. Being born to Finnish parents, her first language was Finnish, with her quickly learning English when she began school.
She attended school and graduated from Floodwood High School where she was chosen as Homecoming Queen in her senior year. After she graduated, she worked various jobs in the Floodwood area and married Arnold Tveit. She met Arnold while she was digging a ditch and it was love at first sight. He would often tease her about how "she really started swinging that shovel when she laid eyes on me!" Together they worked hard on their farm while proudly raising their four children Steven, Frances, Theresa, and Brenda. Dinah was a loving mother who devoted her life to family, community, and her faith.
One could often find her volunteering her time and talents to her church, family, and community. She firmly believed in the importance of giving back and helping those in need. She had a kind and generous heart that went above and beyond. She enjoyed visiting with a cup of coffee with her many friends, bowling, crafting, arts, gardening, and almost anything that involved being outdoors. She was known to bowl a pretty darn good game! Dinah had a deep compassion for animals and had several pets throughout her life that brought her much joy and companionship. Dinah especially cherished being "Grandma Dinah" to her beloved grandchildren.
Dinah was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arnold; son Steven; daughter Brenda; along with many good dogs all named "Lucky".
Dinah is lovingly survived by daughters, Frances (Ken) Haubrich, Theresa (Randy) Fisher; daughter-in-law Debbie Tveit; grandchildren, Tonya (Brandon) Baity, Jason Tveit, and Karl Haubrich; great grandchildren, River, Phoenix, and Willow Baity; along with many other family members and friends. She will be deeply missed.
True to Dinah's mission in life of giving to others, her final act was donating her body to the University of Minnesota's Anatomy Bequest Program for medical education and Parkinson's research. She requested that any gifts of love be sent to Parkinsons Research or Friends of Animals.
A memorial will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Floodwood on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11am, with a visitation taking place one hour prior. A celebration of Dinah's life and a luncheon will follow the memorial service at Rich's Cuisine Event Center. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins-Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet, MN.
