Edwin Dean Chavez, fondly known as "DINO", father, grandfather, brother, beloved uncle and nephew, was called home on April 26, 2023.

Dino's love in his life was his family, and he craved to have the unity he had as a small child. He was the proud father to Deanna Garcia (Chris) and even prouder grandfather to Lilliana, Christopher and Cruz. He had great plans for this summer for his grandchildren. He spoke often of what he was going to do with them when the weather warmed up.

Dino was the youngest of seven, of brothers there is left- Roman, Anthony, and Jeffrey all of Clovis; sisters, Maryann Gonzales (Johnny) of Nashville, TN, Angela Lopez (Randy) of Clovis and Vivian Bond (Robert) of Alexandria, Louisiana.

Dino was a jack of all trades, from roofing to metal work. He loved getting into handi-work from all indications, his real passion was welding. All of this was self-taught. He loved fishing, many times you would find him at green acres. He'd bring you dinner, and a couple extra for the freezer. He loved nature, and could spot an apple tree from a mile away, if he found one, next day you had fresh apples. He was always a giver, his way. He did for others as much as he could. He spent time in Tennessee and he earn the title BELOVED, he built mailboxes, siderails, painted, rebuilt a deck, help move great nieces, fix broken stuff. All they had to do was call. He went sightseeing with them going fishing, going on picnics, and taking care of his momma. I think he earned his wings there. As she recovered from her stroke, he really tried to be there for her the best HE COULD. DINO WILL BE REMEMBERED BY HIS GENEROUS SPIRIT THAT COULDN'T BE ROPED IN. In his last years, he suffered a lot through his illness, and hardly complained. We know he tried hard each day. Fly high little brother, fly high, no more suffering, no more pain.

We love you.

Dino was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Oracio Chavez and Celina Chavez.

A memorial service will be held on May 17, 2023 at 10:00 am in the Steed Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Daniel Chavez officiating.
