Dixie Souder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home on Mar. 13, 2026.
Dixie Lee Souder, age 83, of Phoenixville, PA, formerly St. Augustine, FL, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026 in the Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA. Born on September 18, 1942 in Bradford, PA, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Betty (Gee) Herbert.

Dixie was a 1960 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. She began her working career as a secretary at the former Valley Forge Army Hospital. Once she started her family, she turned her attention to raising her children and tending to her home. She was a member of the Schuylkill School Home and School Association, serving as the PTA President for the duration of her children's attendance at the school. As her children grew, Dixie worked as a home economics teacher for CASE, a school in Coatesville. She would go on to retire as a home economics teacher for the Chester County Intermediate Unit.

Dixie was the volunteer coordinator for many years at the Phoenixville Hospital, and she was a member of the Eastern Star. She brought joy to others through clown ministry as a Christian Clown, and she was a beloved foster mother to several children. She enjoyed gardening, baking, knitting and sewing.

Dixie is survived by three children, Keith A., husband of Kimberly Souder, Scott D. Souder, and Cynthia L. Souder; five grandchildren, Leeanne C. Burrell, Emily J. Souder, Armon D. Thomas, Christian A. Souder, and Isaiah D. Thomas; two foster children, Chelsea Amoriello and Ashley Scott; and her former husband, John D. Souder.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the Campbell - Ennis - Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Phoenixville, PA. Condolences may be offered online at www.PhoenixvilleFuneralHome.com.
