Dixie Park Tomlinson

1936 - 2025

Dixie Park Tomlinson was welcomed by the Lord on December 2, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born February 16, 1936, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Georgia and Dabney Park. Growing up, Dixie's family moved between Texas, Colombia and Venezuela for her father's employment with Mobil Oil. This is where she became fluent in Spanish, a skill she treasured. After graduation from the University of Texas, Dixie met her love Oren "Tommy" Tomlinson. They married in 1962 and moved to Coral Gables. Two children followed, Tommy and Amy, and they created a home full of love, laughter, and warmth. Dixie's love for grammar was apparent in all aspects of life, applying this passion in her work and in her loving, yet humorous, corrections to her children and grandchildren. Dixie worked as an Editor, and dedicated time to raising her children and nurturing their love of learning. She cherished weekends at their house at Stiltsville, where each moment was filled with laughter and special memories. Adventures on the Beare's Laire always brought a sense of excitement and joy. Summers were spent in North Carolina, where Dixie found solace in the beauty of the mountains, surrounded by lifelong friends. Dixie is survived by her son, Thomas Park Tomlinson (Caroline), her daughter, Amy Tomlinson Zambrano (Jaime), and her four beloved grandchildren, Hunter Tomlinson, Georgia Tomlinson, Delaney Zambrano, and Peri Zambrano. Dixie is also survived by her brother, Dabney (Bud) Park (Betty), as well as nieces Morgan Smith, Province (Boo) Zamek (Paul), and nephew Erich Schroeder (Tina).

A memorial service to celebrate Dixie's life will be at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, 536 Coral Way, Coral Gables, FL 33134, on December 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to iPadsforsoldiers.org, an organization Amy has run for fifteen years and a cause dear to Dixie's heart. Dixie's legacy of love, quick witted humor, and meticulous attention to detail will live in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but never be forgotten.
