Our mother, Dolores Ann Francoeur passed away April 22nd 2025. She was born May 20, 1935 in Denver, Colorado, then enjoyed living in California with her parents and sister amongst many dogs as her father was a handler of show dogs. She graduated at Orange High School and met her husband Paul, who was stationed in the military service out there. They were married and moved back to his home town, Biddeford, Maine and then bought the farm in Kennebunkport. Mom and Dad ran a big working farm as well as working full time jobs and raising 5 kids! They taught us by example how to have a good work ethic.
She had her own ceramic shop where she taught classes and moved her growing business to Main Street in Kennebunk for a few years. As time went on she and Dad went to live at their camp deep in the Maine woods, which led to them managing a beautiful hunting and fishing lodge on a gorgeous lake. When Dad died of cancer in 1989 she moved back to Kennebunkport.
She volunteered at Southern Maine Medical Center and also making meals at Community Harvest. She was always chosen to peel the onions because she didn't cry. We all enjoyed hearing about her many trips with other seniors across the USA and to other countries. Mom loved sitting out on her porch and watching the hummingbirds come to the feeder, surrounded by her many flowers and the beautiful floral landscaping Robert and her sons had made for her. She was fond of going on tour to thrift shops with her daughter and was always so excited when her sister Jane would fly out to see her. She also looked forward to joining her senior breakfast group each week. Rain, hail, sleet or snow, she was there! She loved life and people and her family dearly. She was loved by all that met her.
Dolores was predeceased by her parents Faustino and Edmunda Montoya, her husband Paul, and her son Raymond. She is survived by her sister Jane Collard-Gould of Durango, Colorado, and also her daughter and sons: Paula Nompleggi and husband John, Richard Francoeur and his wife Okeema, Ronald Francoeur and his wife Dawn, and Robert Francoeur, all of Kennebunkport, Maine. She also has many dearly cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday, April 27th from 12-2:00pm at Hope Memorial Chapel in Biddeford, Maine. Graveside is Monday, April 28th at 10am at Arundel Cemetery in Kennebunkport.
