Dolores E. Hargrow born February 25, 1941 to Louise Talbot and James Taylor
Dolores is survived by her daughter Rosalie Taylor, Sisters Rosa Mae Simms and Joan Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory; Grandchildren Kenneth R. Hargrow, Monique S. Hargrow, Samirah J. Hargrow, Robert Tariq Hargrow, Robert Hargrow, Sami Green and Shadae Cleveland along with several Great grandchildren, Leland Hargrow, Quadir Hargrow-Lee, Faith Dawson, Jya Dawson, Earl Cohen, Samir Cohen, Craig Hargrow, Zaki Hargrow, Javonnah Hargrow, Travis Hargrow, Christopher Hargrow, Kaesyn Hargrow, Ju Miracle Hargrow and a host of other dear relatives and friends.
As a child, Dolores spent her formative years in a children's hospital with Rheumatic Fever. When discharged she entered the sixth grade at Cleveland Street Elementary School. Dolores was mostly self-taught, although the nurses did teach her to read and write. She always had a love of learning which incentivized her to further her education. She was accepted into a women's program offered through Bloomfield College where she earned her high school diploma, and at the age of 42 obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. She consistently made the Dean's list and graduated at the age of 45.
After graduation she received an offer to work in the Equal Opportunity Funding (EOF) office where she was assigned the role of Head Tutor, where she excelled. She created her own curriculum which is still in use today for others in that position. Encouraged by her mentor and friend, Professor Levine, she also taught as an adjunct professor for several semesters. Dolores retired from Bloomfield College and the EOF program in 1996.
She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
