Dolores Miller

Helen Dolores Miller, 84, of Shelbina, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Salt River Community Care in Shelbina, MO.
Dolores was born on November 15, 1938, to Glenn Buckman and Helen Hardy Buckman in Shelbina.
She wed Thomas C. Miller on February 5, 1962, and went on to have four children, Phillip (Laurie) Miller of Lawson, MO; Kent (Linda) Miller of Shelbina, MO; Melanie (Don) Morris of St. Peters, MO; and Kim (Mike) Broughton of Fishers, IN. She was blessed with eight grandchildren; Mackaela (Logan) Pettz of Liberty, MO; Mackenzie (Corey) Hill of Lawson, MO; Zach Miller of Lawson, MO; Morgan (Matt) Meyer of Shelbina, MO; Daniel Morris of Dayton, Ohio; Jake Morris of St. Peters, MO; Drew (Bekah) Broughton of Denver, CO; and Matt Broughton of Columbus, OH. She also has three great-grandchildren; Granger Hill of Lawson, MO, Maeve Pettz of Liberty, MO, and Lane Meyer of Shelbina, MO.
Dolores was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Buckman of Shelbina; her mother, Helen Hardy Buckman of Shelbina; and one brother, Don Buckman of Quincy, IL.
Dolores was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church as well as St. Mary's Altar Society. After graduating from Shelbina High School, she went to work for the ASC office in Shelbyville, and then the Shelbina Mercantile Bank.
When Dolores became a mother, she dedicated her life to being the most wonderfully selfless mother her four children could ever hope for. Dolores supported Tom as a farmwife as they raised cattle, hogs, and thoroughbred horses, all the while farming acres of land as they grew their family. Dolores spent many hours tending her garden and loved taking care of and mowing her yard. She also helped support her family selling Pioneer seed corn for many years.
Dolores was an incredibly devoted mother, never missing an opportunity to attend her four children's school or sporting events, and it was her routine to have homemade chocolate chip cookies waiting as they got off the school bus and cooking steaks for them on game days. Her life's mission was to always make the lives of her family better and happier, no matter how old they were or how much her family grew. She loved each of her grandchildren fiercely and was equally dedicated to all eight of them. Dolores filled her home with love and kindness and we will miss her terribly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Monday, April 24, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shelbina, MO. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023 from 9 am to 10 am at Greening- Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Burial will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Shelbina, MO. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Salt River Community Care Center.
