Dolores Siegel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, P.C. - Allentown on Feb. 18, 2026.
Dolores W. "Lolly" Siegel, 90, of South Whitehall Township, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on February 17, 2026.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, she graduated from Wellesley College in 1957 as Phi Beta Kappa.

She began her career in Boston as an editor at D.C. Heath and taught English at Arizona State University while earning her master's degree. After moving to Allentown in 1964, she served as Director of the Women's Center at Cedar Crest College and later became Manager of Corporate Policy and Procedures at Mack Trucks.

A lifelong member of Temple Beth El, she was active in Hadassah, serving as chair of the evening study group and vice president of education/programming. She reactivated the Hadassah study group and coordinated Judaic short-story seminars.

Her community service included 18 years on the Kutztown University Council of Trustees, where she chaired the presidential search committee. She was a founding trustee of the Fund to Benefit Children and Youth and served on the boards of the Program of Female Offenders, the Community Music School, and the Coalition for Affordable Housing. She represented higher education on the Pennsylvania State Advisory Committee on Title IV programs.

An avid reader, she founded a women's literature book club in 1991 and enjoyed sharing recommendations. She loved travel and treasured her family and friends.

She was the beloved wife of Sheldon P. Siegel for 68 years and is survived by her husband; her sons, H.B. and Harris (Denise Rule); and her grandson, Alexander.

Services will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Temple Beth El, 1305 Springhouse Road, Allentown. Interment will follow at Beth El Memorial Park, Whitehall. Arrangements are by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home. Shiva will be private. www.BKRFH.com
