Domenic A. “Babe” Simone, 97, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Southgate in Shrewsbury, surrounded by his loving family. His wife, Bessie (Liangos) Simone, predeceased him in 1994.
Babe is survived by his two daughters, Cathy Simone and her husband Bill Lamothe of Worcester, and Michele Simone of Boston; his grandson, Anthony Williams; many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving of eight children born to Bartolomeo and Angelina (Baldino) Simone. Seven siblings predeceased him, Giacomo “Jack”, Maurice, Thomas, and Amelia “Millie” Simone, Marie Oliveri, Mary Bergantine, and Lucy Zarette. Born in Worcester, Babe lived here most of his life. He served in the United States Navy.
Babe worked at Harr Ford in Worcester for over fifty-five years, retiring as Parts Manager in 1992. He had also worked for a short time at Patrick Motors. He was a member of the Men’s Biscegliese Society, East Side Post 201, and enjoyed golfing with his golf buddies at Green Hill.
Calling Hours will be on Tuesday, September 10, from 9 a.m. until his Funeral Service begins at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA. Interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St, Worcester, MA 01606.
