Domitila "Tila" Hernandez Tilton, 79, of
Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Tila will be remembered for her kind heart, caring spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
Born on March 17, 1946, in San Benito, Texas, she was the daughter of Gregorio and Lydia Hernandez. Tila grew up in a large, close-knit family alongside her siblings Celestina, Gregorio, Ramiro, Dora, Homer, and Hector, all of whom preceded her in death. She later married the love of her life, Jerry Tilton, with whom she shared 28 years of marriage in California, building a beautiful and loving home together.
In her younger years, Tila traveled throughout Europe, embracing new cultures and experiences with enthusiasm and joy. She earned her GED, continued her education through college-level courses, and proudly obtained a certificate from barber school-a testament to her lifelong dedication to learning and personal growth. Tila had many passions: she was an avid gardener with a green thumb, a talented cross-stitcher, and an enthusiastic cyclist who even competed in marathon races. She also found great joy in her community, serving as an active member of the Clear Lake Key Club, where her warmth and laughter touched many lives.
She is survived by her sisters, Jane Rodriguez (Romeo) and Rosa Esquivel (Baldo), beloved daughters Dalia Ward, Lydia Barrientes Jaimes (Jimmy), Helga Barrientes Glenn (Noland), and Roxanna Barrientes Vaillancourt (Patrick); 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Her legacy of love and kindness continues through them.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2025, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Seaside Reid Chapel. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Tila's beautiful life and loving spirit.
