Don Taylor Allen "Together Again" Don Taylor Allen, age 84 died peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2014, in Orem, Utah. He was born November 27, 1929 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Taylor Allen and Helen Hamilton Allen. He was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He graduated from Lincoln High School where he met and later married his sweetheart Carol Stubbs. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Don was raised on a dairy farm in Vineyard, Utah. He told numerous stories of growing up on the farm on the shores of Utah Lake. He continued farming having a successful dairy farm business until November of 1975 when he moved to Henry Idaho where he enjoyed ranching and raising cattle. For over 30 years, Don and Carol spent their winters in Overton, Nevada where many friendships were fostered. Don was active in Farm Bureau and Utah Republican Politics. He served on the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau where he and Carol enjoyed traveling on Farm Bureau business for many years. Fishing and hunting were among his favorite hobbies. He spent many enjoyable years fishing in the North West, Idaho, and Nevada. He loved fishing with his family and friends. Don made friends easily. His warm smile invited everyone to be his friend. He loved to talk and tell stories. You always felt comfortable with him because he put everyone at ease. Hunting and fishing stories seemed to get better with each passing year. He was the number one fan of Turner Classic Movie channel and ESPN football and collegiate basketball. Don and Carol were parents of four children: Colleen (Orson Welch, Kent, Washington), Charleen (T. Michael Ford, Orem), Richard (Sharleen Allen, Orem), and Duane (Yvonne Allen, Idaho Falls, Idaho). They have 15 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. He is survived by his brother Hal J. Allen and sister Nadine Gillman. The family would like to thank First Choice Health Care and Hospice for their tender care. Thank you to Patrick, Jason, Merry and Janeen, who have helped us all through a tender time. A very special thank you to our sweet nurse, Brittany. Funeral Services will be Monday, January 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Timpanogos Park Fifth Ward Chapel, 990 North 100 West, Orem. Family and friends may call at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Sunday evening, January 19, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.walkersanderson.com.
