Donald Allen (Don) Bergman passed away peacefully, November 28, 2025, in Elon North Carolina.

Don was born March 29, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of the late Wilbur Allen Bergman and Betty Johnson Bergman Glueck. Growing up he spent time in Baltimore as well as Butner NC and Zebulon NC with maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Don graduated from Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro Virginia in 1960. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne division at Fort Bragg, NC. Don served in the Republic of South Korea. He worked in the finance business in Charleston, SC, where he met his wife of 58 years, Audine Boone Bergman. She strongly suggested he complete his education. He graduated from Lander College in 1970 with a degree in Business Administration. Don left the finance business and started a career with the Federal Government as a Special Agent Criminal Investigator; first with the IRS Intelligence Division in Greensboro NC and then in Miami FL. He then transferred to the Department of Health and Human Services in Columbia SC. Don retired after a 21-year career with the Federal Government. After retirement, Don and Audine moved back to Florida living in Fernandina Beach and Ocala, before returning to Greenwood SC in 2005. Don served on the Lander Alumni Board and was active in the Bearcat and Tower Clubs. Don and Audine supported Lander soccer and in 2007 established an endowed men's scholarship in honor of Coach Van Taylor.

Don was preceded in death by his son Britt Harrison Bergman.

Don is survived by wife, Audine Boone Bergman, a daughter Leigh Sims (Todd) of Graham NC, grandson Baxter Clark Bergman, granddaughter Phoebe Jane Bergman and daughter in law Nora Poling of Decatur GA.

A private interment will take place at the Church of the Resurrection at a later date.
