Don Bowser" fought the good fight and finished his race and kept the faith ( 2 Tim 4:7)"on March 10, 2025. Don ( Roy Donald) Bowser of Mill Run was born Jan 6, 1937 in Accident, MD to the late Roy W. Bowser and Theodoshia "Doshia" Frantz Bowser. He was raised in Normalville on the family farm. Don was predeceased by his fiancé Marjorie Kalp, his wife Meriel R. Bigam Hensel Bowser in 2001 and his second wife Kathryn Leonard Van Nosdeln in 2017 as well as in-laws, JF and Edyth Bigam and sisters in-law Edith Bowser,Birdie Bowser and Louise Edwards(Wayne). He is survived by his daughters Pamela Hensel Hughes, Selena Bowser Tressler, Laverne Bowser Hager (Mark), grandchildren Laurie Hughes Cameron (Rob), Leah Hughes Stutzman(Marty), Jimmy Hughes(Amanda), Zachary Tressler (Becky), Jonathan Hager(Kaitlyn), Patrick Hager(Emily) great grandchildren: Emma Driscoll, Zoey Hughes, Elijah Stutzman, Lainey Stutzman, Hunter Hughes, Brody Cameron, Luke Cameron, Everett Tressler and Wilder Tressler. Kathryn's family: Richard(Tammy) Van Nosdeln, Danny (Sherri) VanNosdeln their children and grandchildren. He is survived by his only brother Duane Bowser (Carol Lee) and nephews and niece. Don spent much of his life working in the lumber industry with various companies as well as farming and raising Hereford cattle. He served in the Army National Guard completing 25 years of service as E7 Sgt 1st Class, 1954-1979. He was commended for serving countless thousands of service men as a mess sergeant. Don had a heart for service. He was active in the Mill Run Grange serving as various officers, he was a member of the Springfield Twp Fire Dept in Mill Run, Don was called into the Gospel Ministry in May of 1982. He initially did pulpit supply until he became pastor of Star Junction Baptist Church in 1987. He was active in the Monongahela Baptist Association serving as moderator. He was active in the ministerium that included his church in the Star Junction area. Don worked along side his father and father-in-law at Normalville and Indian Creek Baptist Church Cemeteries serving on the boards and being caretaker. He served as Conservation District Director for 28 years from 1997 to 2024, enjoying helping Fayette County farmers and creating a stronger organization in their endeavors. He decided to run for Springfield Twp Supervisor in 1985 (18 yrs) He served the township by applying for grants, getting to know the people, and working with the County Supervisor and creating contacts with State government officials to help his township. He took pride in being chaplain for various organizations. He helped establish The ICBC Campground Ministry in Mill Run. Don enjoyed NASCAR racing as well as local racing. He and his family took many camping vacations to see race tracks and races. He enjoyed Gospel music and would travel to various venues to hear his favorite groups. He collected vintage farm tractors, NASCAR memorabilia, die cast cars, many replicas of his own vehicles, diecast tractors, vintage glass, and antiques. He loved playing the harmonica. He took it along on a mission trip to Nicaragua. He loved people, sharing his Jesus with them, listening to their needs, performing weddings, baptisms, baby dedications and funerals. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. Monday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville. Additional viewing will take place in the Indian Creek Baptist Church, Mill Run on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., the hour of services with Pastor Kevin Daniels officiating.
