Don Climer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Asheville Mortuary Services on Jan. 19, 2026.
Don Milton Climer, 76, went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2026.

Don is survived by his wife, Gail Climer; his children, Kara Smeal (Nathan) and their children Oliver and Samantha; Jesse Climer (Sarah) and their children Carissa and Cole; his sister Geraldine Chase; other family including Kim and JoAnn Garrett, Jean and Rick Edwards, Joan and Ron Liles, Keith Holihan, and our large family in Christ. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Edith Climer.

Don enjoyed life in rural Arkansas as a child. After high school, he studied electronics, then joined the Navy, and served in a nuclear submarine in Spain. After his service, he lived in Brevard, NC, working at NASA's Rosman tracking station, then DuPont. During his life, Don enjoyed time with his family, horseback riding, fishing, camping, tennis, and everything outdoors. Don loved fixing anything broken. Don was a deacon and song leader at church. We rejoice in the promise of eternal life, and look forward to seeing him again in heaven!

A celebration of life will be held at Brevard Church of Christ, 10:30 am January 31, 2026.
