Donald Ray Clover was born on March 24, 1944 to the late Earl Robert and Marie Bailey Laneer in Hardesty, Oklahoma. He attended school in both Hardesty and Fowler, Kansas, graduating from Fowler High School in 1962. He joined the United States Air Force in 1963, serving in Fairbanks, Alaska and Altus, Oklahoma. In 1966 he married Paulette Ann Vann and together they made their home in Fowler, Kansas. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1967, and then joined the Kansas Highway Patrol, serving for three years. He also worked at the Meade County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff on a part-time basis while working at the Fowler Equity Exchange, where he served in multiple capacities. In his spare time, Don enjoyed volunteering as a Boy Scout Master, where one of his biggest accomplishments was to mentor thirteen young men to achieve their Eagle Scout Award at the same time. In 1986, he moved his family to Texas, settling in Gatesville where he worked for Farmland Insurance as a Loss Control Specialist, servicing 82 counties. He began his career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional Officer in 1996, serving in that capacity until his retirement in 2007. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. During his later years, he also enjoyed woodworking, making candles and spending time with his grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes though, was watching FOX News and old western movies.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elton Brown, and Joe Brown; and sisters, Beulah May Atherton, Mary Lou Gilmore, and Lois Nyte.

He is survived by his wife, Paulette of 58 years; sons, Donnie Clover and wife, Tammie, Shannon Clover and wife, Yvonne, and Clint Clover and wife, Angie; grandchildren, Breanna, Jordan, Katie, Jared and wife, Curry, Colten, and Cael; and great grandchildren, Asher, and Tate.
