Don "Sam" Coe Jr. 71, of Des Moines, IA, died on July 29, 2024, at Taylor House Hospice.
Sam was born August 28, 1952, in Des Moines, IA, son of Don and Margaret (Clark) Coe Sr. He received his education in Des Moines and graduated from East High School in 1971. On September 17, 1971, he married Linda Sponsler in Des Moines.
Sam was employed at Bankers Life, Ruan Transport, Firestone Tire, Intercity Trucking before taking his dream job as a Feeder Truck Driver at UPS for 40 years. He reached number 3 in seniority at UPS. Sam loved racing Dwarf Cars with Tony in the late 1990's and 2000's, riding his motorcycle, golfing but mostly looking for extra golf balls. He also loved Las Vegas and would visit there whenever possible.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Claudia Fowler and two brothers, Tom and John Coe.
Sam is survived by his wife Linda, sons Matthew and Tony (Melinda), granddaughter Keeley, two sisters, Marilyn (Marcus) Badgley and Karen (Ethan) Botts, sister-in-law Jean Coe, nieces, nephews and his UPS family.
Memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League, A Heinz and Animal Lifeline.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at the Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home with Graveside services on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Rising Sun Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
