Don Habeck Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Generations Funeral Home & Crematory - Tomahawk on Oct. 8, 2024.
Don G. Habeck, age 87, of Tomahawk, WI, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Country Terrace Assisted Living in Tomahawk. Don was born in Schofield, WI, on April 17, 1937, to the late Walter Sr. and Ora Madge (Bentley) Habeck. He was married to Patricia Knipfer on October 10, 1959; she passed away on May 29, 2017.
Don was a 1955 graduate of Wausau High School. He entered the military serving in the United States Army. After Don's honorable discharge, he moved to Tomahawk starting employment at the papermill for some time before moving back to the Wausau area where he worked as a carpenter for Knutson Construction. Don was a talented wood carver and excelled in carving wildlife such as birds, ducks, and eagles. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed watching the birds in his yard. Don was an avid Packer and Brewer fan and enjoyed visits to the casino with his wife, Pat. In his later years, Don and his best buddy, Joe Frigo, were frequent customers at the Tomahawk Family Restaurant, AKA "Benny's". Always up for an adventure, Don and Joe enjoyed taking drives, making daily stops to "Hob's" where he loved talking with the customers and crew in the shop. Don loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoying brats and root beer floats with them.
Survivors include his son, Michael "Hob" (Stacy) Habeck, of Tomahawk; his daughter, Rhonda (Jack) Evans, of St. Augustine, FL; his grandchildren, Dezarae (Jake) Wierzba, Nichole (Jason) Lahti, Tara (Shane) Fletcher, Jessi (Beau) Rumsey, Jake Evans, and Cole Evans; and his eldest great-granddaughter, Kaitlin (Adam) Faufau, in addition to many other great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ora; his wife, Pat Habeck; his brothers and sisters, Faythe Habeck, Audrey Earl, Walter, Harley, Trueman, Allen, Merlyn, Ervin, Patrick and an infant brother, Leander Habeck.
We, the family, would like to thank all the girls at Country Terrace for the love and care they always provided him. We also express extreme gratitude to Holly Duplayee and the staff at Moments Hospice. They lovingly guided Don home to our Lord Savior with great compassion, dignity, and grace. Also, a special thank you to Joe Frigo for his unconditional friendship, laughs, adventures, and Burger King Whoppers he shared with Don.
Private family services will be held. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.
