I remember when Don did the radio voice for Charlie Farkinson, played on Hee Haw, did a TV commercial about life insurance policy. He even read story about "A Christmas Carol" at the Bridge Street United Church a number of years ago, although I never got to see him. However, I did get to se Dave Devall, and Max Keeping when they read the Christmas Carol story ta Bridge Street Church. I'm going to miss hearing Don. He was a great guy

Condolences to Dons family. I only knew Don and his parents and it was many years ago. I did briefly know Catherine, when they owned Spot of Tea, we often spoke on the phone. He was always one of my favorite people, I miss him.

Oh my Goodness, I have watched every show of HEE. HAW since I was a child and I still watch them on my cell. Your Dad could make me laugh no matter what my day was about . I will always smile when I watch them on my cell. He is a wonderful legion in his own time. I JUST WANT TO SAY THANKS FOR THOSE WONDERFUL MEMORIES. YOU ARE VERY BLESSED TO HAVE A FATHER LIKE HIM.

For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed for his name by ministering and continuing to minister to the holy ones. (Hebrews 6:10). This one will never be forgotten for all the work that was done for this community and especially those encouraged and inspired in this persons' care. May God continue to strengthen the family and friends in these times hard to deal with (2 Tim 3:1), especially without a beloved one such as this talented and loved person gone from our lives but not forgotten.

Don Harron was a good person to work with. I got to know him as a dear client and friend in my mom's Literary Agency, The Canadian Speakers' and Writers' Service Limited. He was the Master of Ceremonies many years ago for my mom's 50 years in business at the Famous People Players. I enjoyed going to all the book launches. He was always kind and professional in all that he did. He will be missed by Paul, Matie and Julius Molinaro.
Sincerely, Paul Molinaro

My condolences to the Harron family. I'm 59 and I am unable to remember a time when I did not know his name. Don was a great stage performer at Stratford as well as a great comedian. I finally met Don in person at a garden party in Rosedale in 2007 or so. As Don was in character as Charlie, when Don autographed the event playbill, he personalized the signing and spelled my name phonetically as Dug Krayg. Don was a truly great personality and will be missed by all Canadians.

Thank you, Don Harron (and Charlie Farquharson) for the gift of laughter you gave us and a unique take on being Canadian. I first read your Histry of Canada (immediately followed up by Jogfree of Canada) when I was a teenager I laughed so hard my parents thought I was crying hysterically in my room. You were truly an original.

very sadden to hear of the passing of Don
he was a Canadian fixture across Canada.
I enjoyed him when he did his farmer routine Charlie especially in Canada. I remember him coming to Halifax for a Christmas Daddies telethon and he told the story that while at the local liquor story a patron was saying Christmas for the children while at the same time loading the car with a couple of bottles of scotch. He will be missed

March 30, 1993 was a memorably warm and happy day for Marg Spearin's Grade 2 class at Forest Hill Public School. It brought a surprise visit from a very distinguished guest – Charlie Farquharson (Don Harron)
It all started with the life sized cut-out picture of Charlie that stood and welcomes everyone to Grade 2!
Many children knew his character from the Del Monte commercial, had become accustomed to Charlie as a classroom personality and now regarded him as a friend.
The children so enjoyed writing letters to Charlie. Many mentioned his old gray sweater and his friendly, funny personality. All included a joke and many asked him to visit the school if he ever came to Kitchener.
It was difficult to say whether the students or the teacher were more thrilled with a visit from Charlie! He was greeted by a roomful of delighted and surprised children. He brought the book of letters the children had sent and each child had the opportunity to read his or her own letter. For a whole hour, Charlie laughed with the children and listened closely and patiently to their work. Each child came away feeling important and proud that Charlie would take the time for his busy travels to visit them. They knew that he truly was their good friend.
To the Harron family, Don touched young and old, keep close all your warm and wonderful memories!

To the Harron family, I was deeply saddened to hear about Don. He had a heart of gold, and a wit to match! Being on the Organizing Committee for the Bobby Orr Skate-A-Thon for a number of years, I was truly blessed with the opportunity to spend some time with Don (or shall I say Charlie) every year ... and cherish the photo of Charlie & I. He will forever remain in my heart & hearts of all lives he touched.

Harron, Family, I'm to hear about the loss of Don. Losing a parent no matter how old they are, it's still hard.
He was a talented man. I remember watching "Anne of Green Gables" and "Hee Haw".
When Don hears God's voice, he will wake to a world where he will return to the vigor of his youth. I'm looking forwad to meeting Don when that time comes and at the same time, I will be reuntied with my beloved parents.

My condolences to the Harron family. It's never easy losing someone you love and while comforting words are appreciated, they often fall short of alleviating sorrow. In times like these, I find Psalm 121 to be helpful. I hope you will also.
