Donald "Don" Haworth, 86, of Metamora formerly of Washington, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025 at Carle Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
He was born July 8, 1939 in Grinnell, Iowa to the late Murray and Nettie (Ditch) Haworth. He married Norma K. Smith in East Peoria on November 23, 1958. She preceded him on March 27, 2011. He was also preceded in death by one son, Mark; and his brother, Murray Jr.
Surviving are two children, Phillip (Fiona) Haworth, Sarah (David) Caughran; four grandsons, Colby (Abby) Filipiak, William Butts, Ashton Caughran, Aiden Caughran; one great-grandson, Leo Butts; and his sister, Esther Smith.
Don was a clergyman with the United Methodist Church. He served in the Illinois area for 35 years before retiring. He was a member of Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference, and First Federated Church of Peoria.
There will be a graveside service at 10am on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Zion Hill Cemetery in Mattoon, Illinois. There will also be a Memorial Service at 3:30pm on Monday at First Federated Church of Peoria with Rev. Ed Wegele officiating. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Federated Church of Peoria.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Snyder Village for their attentive care shown to Don. A special expression of gratitude goes to their dear friend, Kitty Vaughn, whose loving assistance meant so much to him and to them.
