Don Nageli
Surrounded by loving family, Edwin Don Nageli peacefully passed away on July 2, 2024 due to congestive heart failure. Born on March 1, 1941 in Salt Lake City to Edwin and Anna Dea Ence Nageli, he was 83-years old. As a young man, Don served a three-year mission for the Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the South Germany Mission. As an adult, he and his wife served in the Albuquerque New Mexico Mission. Among many other callings in Idaho and the Southglenn 2nd Ward in Colorado, Don served on the high council of his Utah stake. He was in the Air Force Reserve for 6 years and an Atlanta Braves fan since birth. With a warm, welcoming countenance and a gentle sense of humor, Don made friends out of strangers and found joy in his many lasting friendships. Hunting, playing cards, watching sports, and laughing were among his favorite things. Don had a fulfilling career as an award-winning salesman for Nalley's and General Foods Kraft before retiring and enjoyed working as a school bus driver in his later years. He will be greeted beyond the veil by his loving parents Edwin and Anna Dea, sister Nancy, and grandson AJ. Don is survived by his loving, supportive wife of 59 years Karen Nageli, his brother Brent (Bonnie) Nageli, sister Janet (Glenn) Nelson and his children Karine (Jeff) Kobylanski, Kimberli (Steve) Gibson, Darin (Larisa) Nageli, Jason (Tiffani) Nageli, and Daniel (Kelly) Nageli. Don has 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren with three more expected soon. His legs are still beautiful.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Rocky Mountain Hospice for the loving care provided to Don, including Dan, Martha, Paydon, and Cheryl. Special thanks to neighbors Gayle and Joel Toole, Jenae Royer, Roger and Kerry Hoffmann, David and Deborah Fleming, Linda Rich, Kellie Terry. We are also grateful for support from the Northshore 10th Ward Relief Society and the Priests Quorum who faithfully brought the sacrament to Don every week.
Services will be held at the North Shore Stake Center, 10344 Kestrel Rise Road, South Jordan, UT 84009 on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Viewing from 9:30-10:45 AM and funeral at 11:00 AM.
