Don Poper

Donald "Don" Poper It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Don Poper, 79, of Woodstock, Georgia, on January 7, 2026, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. Don shared more than 53 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sue Poper, who survives him and was the center of his world.
Don was a proud father to three children and an even prouder Papa to nine grandchildren:
· Stacy Bourne (Poper) and her husband, Matt, of Trophy Club, TX; parents to Jack and Mackenzie Bourne
· Kelly Poper and her partner, Jason Rich, of Cumming, GA; stepchildren Baleigh and Reid Rich
· Brian Poper and his wife, Marlo, of Woodstock, GA; parents to Riley, Kylie, and Garrett Poper; Tiege and Elsie Lang
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Lee Poper, Sr. and Clara C Hartenstein Poper.
Family was everything to Don, and his love extended to his grandchildren who brought him endless joy. Don lived life with humor, warmth, and an open heart. He had a gift for conversation and never met a stranger-whether in the aisles of Home Depot or waiting in line at Starbucks for his favorite drink: a venti black iced coffee (with no ice, of course). A lifelong Yankees fan, Don also found joy in watching Seinfeld (he knew every line!), woodworking, meandering through hardware stores, and caring for his dogs-first Max, and later Ollie, who rarely left his side.
He was a storyteller, a jokester, and a man with legendary dance moves. His laughter and energy were contagious, and his presence made every moment brighter. Above all, Don adored Sue and missed her dearly whenever they were apart, even for the shortest time.
Don loved his 13 years of retirement-more than he ever imagined he would get to enjoy. He spent it wisely with his family and friends doing all of the things he loved most.
Don's legacy is one of love, humor, and connection. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
