Gretchen, Christopher, and Stuart Fisher as well as their children and Grandchildren extend our deepest sympathies and sincerest condolences on the passing of your Father, Don. We are the children of Norma Jean Blount from Ten Mile, Tennessee and the younger Sister of your Grandmother Ruby. We met your Mother Mary Eleanor and your Father many years ago. Throughout the seasons of our lives we enjoyed visiting with our southern family, and we will miss your Father´s stories about the American Chestnut. His many efforts to rejuvenate the species are well known and highly respected. The last time we saw Mary and Don was at a family picnic hosted by our cousin Sara Elder. It was a wonderful day. I recall Stuart asking him to repeat himself several times. Don finally said to him it was evident that you do not understand Southern English. Well said.

We wish you much happiness and love as you go forward with your life. Your Father´s legacy will be carried on by you and your children, Don´s Grandchildren.

God bless you.

A visit to Shadow Nursery always included animals as well as plants. On one particular visit, my teenage granddaughter accompanied me. Don took us to a small building containing a young camel. I got a memorable photo of the granddaughter smiling uncertainly with the camel's face snuggled up to the side of her head. An event typical of a visit to Don and his nursery.
