Dona Jo (Newton) Anderson, age 74, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Newburgh, Indiana.
Dona was born on May 1, 1951, to Don and Joan Newton. She graduated from North Clay High School in 1969, where she loved being a North Clay cheerleader. She earned her degree in Dental Hygiene from Lakeland College in Mattoon. On July 1, 1977, she married Brad Anderson and shared over 48 years of marriage. She worked for Dr. DeSelms for many years before becoming a hygienist for Dr. Robert Marley. She loved visiting with her patients about travel plans and their families, singing songs for the kids, and performing her beloved "water trick". She retired from dentistry in 2024. She enjoyed working at Two Glitzy Girls in downtown Flora after her retirement. She was a member of the Flora First Methodist Church and the Tau Theta Sorority. Dona Jo could best be described as a ray of sunshine. She was a blessing to all who knew her. She always had a kind word to say and was full of positivity and happiness. She could make your day better by just being around her. Shopping, traveling, and spending time with her friends, sorority sisters, and bible study group were things she really enjoyed. If she and Brad weren't cheering from the sidelines of a sporting event, they were often out dining with friends. Her favorite thing to do was attend the events of her grandchildren, Elsie, Knox, and Jasper. She was truly their biggest fan! Most of all, she loved being with her family whom she loved with all of her heart.
Dona is survived by her husband, Brad Anderson of Louisville, IL, 2 children, Hayley Kohn of Louisville and Dirk (Brooke) Anderson of Louisville, 3 grandchildren, Elsie Anderson, Knox Anderson, and Jasper Kohn all of Louisville, and beloved dog, Rocky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Joan Newton, infant sister, Diane, 8 grandchildren, Drake, Tristan, Rosie, Noah, and 4 too tiny to name, son-in-law, Jarrod Kohn, paternal grandparents, Tommy and Doris Newton, and maternal grandparents, Lester and Jessie Kincaid.
Funeral services to celebrate Dona Jo's life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 - 6 at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville, IL. Interment will take place at Orchard Hill Cemetery. In honor of Dona's infinite love of her grandchildren, memorial donations can be made for her grandchildren in care of Brad Anderson and may be received at the service or mailed to McGriff Funeral Home.
