Donald Addison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walnut Lawn Funeral Home - Springfield on Dec. 31, 2025.
Don Addison, 77, passed away on December 28, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. Born on April 22, 1948, in Urania, Louisiana, Don lived a life marked by deep love for his family, a sharp wit, and an enduring passion for music and college football.
Don was the beloved husband of Susan Addison and the proud father of Heather (husband Randy), Jeremy (wife Nibal), Jessica (husband DJ), Jennifer (partner Cal) and Heath (wife Gillian). He was a devoted grandfather to Kylie, Nick, Molly, Lyla, August, Addison, Abigail and great grandfather to Alejandra. Don was a dear brother to Jimmy (Lena) and Gail. His family was the center of his world, and he found immense joy in singing and dancing with his children and grandchildren-moments that will be cherished forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Artemis and Jimmie Ruth Addison.
A football player for Louisiana State University-Geaux Tigers!-Don carried his LSU pride throughout his life. Saturdays in the fall were sacred as he cheered on his team with unwavering enthusiasm. His love for college football was matched only by his passion for music. Whether strumming his guitar or singing along with loved ones, Don brought warmth and rhythm into every room he entered.
Don had a knack for fixing things-cars that wouldn't start or household items that needed attention always found their way into his capable hands. His intelligence shone through not only in practical matters but also in the thoughtful conversations he shared with those around him. He had a quick wit that could light up a room and a loving nature that made everyone feel at home.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at a later date in Springfield, Missouri. Please contact a family member for details.
May the memory of Don bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire laughter, music, and Tiger pride for generations to come.
