Donald Aldredge Obituary

Donald F. Aldredge

March 18, 1930 - December 22, 2025

Donald F. Aldredge, age 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Prairie Gate with his loving family by his side. Don was born on March 18, 1930 in Sharpsburg, Iowa. Don attended Thomas Jefferson High School where he met the love of his life, Loris Ann Springer. Don and Loris Ann were married on November 3, 1950. Don proudly served in the US Army from 1951 - 1953 as a mechanic in the Korean War. In 1953, he hired out at the Union Pacific Railroad as a helper shoveling coal. Don worked hard to achieve his Locomotive Engineer's certification and he thoroughly loved his railroad career. He retired in 1992 and spent many years traveling with Loris in their motor home all over the USA. Dad enjoyed dancing with Mom, fishing, and tinkering in his garage

Don was preceded in death by Loris Ann in 2014; parents, Newton and Edna May Aldredge; brothers, Marvin, Bobby, Jimmy and Steve; and sisters, Beverly Nelson and Sharon Kay Brockman.

Don is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Curt) Custard of Elmwood, Neb., Sue (Tex) DeBoer of Crescent, Iowa, and Dona (Randall) Kunze of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren John (Susy) Schwede, Lori (Ray) Robinson, Kristi (Matt) O'Donnell, Michael (Ariel) Hansen, Ryan Hansen, Sara (Ryan) Parson, and Cole (Monica) Hebing; and 11 great-grandchildren.

There will be a private burial.
