I just called Don, to see if he wanted to meet me out for a morning coffee, as we have done for nearly 20 years.
I've only just now found out about his passing, and am in shock, and very sad not to have been there at his funeral.
We would often play phone tag, trying to set up arrangements to get together, navigating our busy lives, and when we did, he'd try to beat me to Stewart's to pay for mine, and I would try to beat him to prepay for his coffee.
I'd been calling a few times over the past few months, and thought he was just busy, and would get back to me as he always did.
We used sit for an hour or two at Stewart's to catch up, and he'd always have a new eye roll joke that you couldn't help but laugh at. His humor was infectious, and I will miss that.
He was a man who loved his family, and his friends . Being at his home, he would speak about memories of his mom and dad with a fondness in his eyes, remembering in detail his childhood.
Don was a true friend. He was a genuine person and always let me know his honest opinion on everything.
His mind was incredible. Being able to remember everything he'd read, and was always crystal clear on memories, recalling things in detail that I'd long forgotten.
He was the kind of man that would help anyone, and ask for nothing in return. I only hope that I gave back to him as much as he gave to me, in friendship and his electrical artistry..
He will be missed, and I will be finding his grave soon, to pay my respects, and my gratitude for a wonderful friendship.
I hope you are finally taking the time off, in peace, to enjoy the retirement that you so richly deserved in this life.
You will be missed by many.

My condolences to Donald's family he was a classmate from k to 8th grade at Mount Carmel School, if I remember correctly he always played the accordion in school. Last time I ran into him was 2 years ago at Stewart's having coffee, we had a nice visit.
